Societe Generale parting company with senior Moscow manager

July 11, 2011

By Andrei Skvarsky.

Societe Generale is parting company with Olesya Afanasyeva, who is stepping down as head of the corporate arm of Rosbank, part of the French bank’s Russian business.

Societe Generale bought a controlling stake in Rosbank in 2008.

The reason for Afanasyeva’s planned departure is the recent merger of Rosbank’s corporate division with Banque Societe Generale Vostok, a Russian subsidiary of the French lender. Afanasyeva is dissatisfied with her new role as chief executive of the unified bank, according to Russian daily Kommersant.

After the merger, completed on June 30, Societe Generale holds a 74.9% stake in the unified bank, and stakes of 11.1% belong to VTB Capital and Interros.
