Troika’s Vaz Pinto resurfaces at Soc Gen

Luis Vaz Pinto, the former head of equity syndicate and corporate broking at Troika Dialog, has resurfaced at French bank Societe Generale.

Vaz Pinto is understood to be joining the French bank's London team to work in a senior equity syndicate role. He joined Troika from JP Morgan in July 2008, where he was European head of syndicate and European corporate broking.

Societe Generale may be looking to use Vaz Pinto to expand their coverage of Russian companies. Rival French brokerage Cheuvreux, fully owned by Credit Agricole, also covers Russia from the relative safety of London.

Societe Generale is a co-organiser of an initial public offering for the Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK) scheduled for June and has bid for co-organising an IPO for TransContainer, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD) and Russia's largest rail freight container operator.

Vaz Pinto, a graduate of INSEAD, one of the world's leading business schools, quit Troika about a month ago.
