Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will today raise the curtain for the first time at a brokerage event when he addresses investors at VTB Capital’s Russia Calling three-day conference.

Over 300 Russian and international investors are anticipated at the event in the President Hotel, as well as 150 representatives from Russia’s leading companies.

Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin are scheduled to attend, along with oligarchs such as Oleg Deripaska. Gerhard Shroeder, the former Chancellor of Germany and chairman of the Nord Stream pipeline project is also expected to put in a turn.

In comments made to Emergingmarkets.me, VTB Capital global chief executive Yuri Soloviev said the purpose of the conference was to address the many fallacies that international investors have about Russia.

Soloviev said: “Russia trades at a significant discount in terms of fundamentals in both fixed income and equities. While some of this can be attributed to the issues surrounding corporate governance, there is still a lot of misunderstanding and misapprehension by international investors which can be allayed. We want to facilitate this by creating a dialogue between them and the business leaders and senior political representatives in Russia.”
